francie-pants: I actually used to really dislike Nicki Minaj. I thought she was annoying and untalented. I’ve begun to get more ambivalent about her. She’s a female rapper and she’s done pretty well for herself. I don’t enjoy her music, but I definitely respect her. no jessica no let me rant at you while I agree that her music is definitely NOT my cup of tea, but it’s not her music that I have a problem with (for the most part. I DEFINITELY have a problem with this, because I personally have a deep appreciation for songs with actual depth and meaning sigh)  I’d just love to see a female artist actually become popular on talent alone- without having to objectify their own body and have it so all their songs and videos make you think of nothing but sex (see here and here). (which is also why florence welch is my hero <3) but then of course there’s the argument that oh well that’s her right and maybe it’s a form of empowerment but god it just annoys me a lot because WOMEN ARE ACTUALLY MORE THAN JUST VAGINAS AND BOOBS AND BUTTS and I don’t think she is helping that cause AT ALL and for that I hate her a lot okay rant over
